Donations

The library is happy to receive donations to use for the library's benefit or distribute where needed.

What can I bring?

  • Books (other than out-of-date textbooks, Readers Digest Condensed Books and non-sellable items)
  • Magazines (from the last 12 months)
  • Videos/DVDs
  • CDs (sorry, no records - 45s, LPs or 78s)
  • Eyeglasses
  • Time (see "Volunteering" to the right)

Sorry, computers can't be accepted - see Recycleworks.org for reuse / recycle options.

When and where do I bring it?

When: 9am-Noon, every day EXCEPT Tuesday and Sunday

Where: staff entrance on Alma St., at the corner of Ravenswood Ave.

How: Place donations on the book cart, and take a gold-colored receipt. (Ring the doorbell if receipts are gone.)
For pickup contact the Friends of the Library at 330-2521.

What happens to it?

Books, movies and music may be...

  • Added to the library collection.
  • Sold online at http://www.amazon.com/shops/menloparkfriends
  • Sold in the Friends Bookstore (open daily in the library's lobby).
  • Sold at the annual Book Fair the 3rd weekend in September, where there is an acre of items for sale at bargain prices.

Magazines for the last 12 months may be...

  • Put in the library's free bin for others in the community to enjoy.
  • Added to the collection to replace missing issues.
  • Sold in the Friends Bookstore.

Old eyeglasses are given to the Lions Club.

 

 



VOLUNTEERING

Donate your time. Interested in being a vital part of the community and having fun at the same time?

Docents help library users find materials and learn how to use the computer catalog.  There are also other ways to volunteer.  Call 330-2511

Friends of the Library organization helps raise funds for the library through the Friends Bookstore and their annual Book Fair.  For infomation call 330-2521.

Literacy tutors help adults learn to read.  Call Project Read at 330-2525.
